"...She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and thumb in the shape of an L in her forehead..."

Dusting the entertainment center, I bumped my forehead on the corner. Hence the 'L'. Ow.

Oh, and *facepalm* I realize how I sounded with my last post on complaining about one of The Red Room's ads. It's just, with their impressive roster of authors, you wonder why they'd try to catch our attention with that 'How To'. Do you get what I'm saying? There are a lot of better How To's.

And it's annoying having that ad because when I surf the Internet, my mom and minor sibs are in the same room. Hmpf.

The Rules of the Meme:
Take a picture of yourself right now.
Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture.
Post that picture with NO editing.
Post these instructions with your picture.

A Twilight AU/AH fan fic that ruined all other fics for me:

A World Without Sound

I've been wary of All Human fan fics because... well, what's the point? Meyer's saving grace is her fresh vampire lore, remove that and you get a Mills and Boon/Harlequin. And if the fan fic author adapts Meyer's writing style, which is often the case, that's a Suish/Stuish Mills and Boon, too.

So far, I've read mostly profession-centred AH fan fics. None of them special.

A World Without Sound features a unique alternate love story, the way Bella and Edward's is unique. It's so jampacked with emotions, too. I laugh in this chapter, I cry in the next, I squee in the next. Never dull, never silly. I'm still reeling.

I love it when I discover such treasures in the fandom!

Happy birthday, Charles, Cynthia, Megan! :)

~In case I don't log on tomorrow and Sunday.

We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks!

~ Been busy. Won't elaborate for now. *fingers crossed* But I have been reading your posts, f-list. I'm nosy like that. ^_^

~ Oh my Godric, I love the song in my head right now. See post title. The song is so... cool. *waves in a 'you know' gesture. Total Eclipse of the Heart. Searched it on AOL. Peeked on it at Wiki. Whaddya know, it was inspired by Wuthering Heights!

~ Have you seen these big bows everyone seems to wear on their hair these days? A la Minnie Mouse. Well, not exactly... a little to the side. What's it called? Just curious. Really. I can already imagine how silly I'll look wearing that.

~ And speaking of silly: I like her style most of the time, and I adore her to pieces, but sometimes Emma is over the top.

I love that she'll play Betsy Balcombe... but she isn't alluding to it at all. This thing is more like a curtain/bed canopy than a gown and the skirt ruined the bodice. The shoes, ugh. Is she eighteen or eighty? Aww, Emma.

~ I only just found out that City of Ember has been made into a movie! To be shown this October! But, ugh, if you haven't read the book yet, don't watch the trailer! Argh.

Why I had to decline *sniffle* (and since I have declined, it's okay, this public sniveling, isn't it? I need to snivel about it, you know) a committee seat on Mugglenet Fan Fiction's prestigious Quicksilver Quills:

*sigh* And I've been so looking forward to the QSQ's. I sat at the Poetry, Post-Hogwarts and Marauder Era committee (Jan's team. I miss Jan, by the way. I wonder how she is... MagicalMaeve) last year. It has been fun and memorable in every way. But I have to skip this year. Maybe next year..? Please with a kumquat on top.

And now I have to do my to-do's before the Lopez and Cailas families descend for the weekend luau (AAAARGH! Dishes!).

But because I'm me, here's something I nicked from ozma914 :

Desiderata a la Joanna:

Never read parenting articles/books if you're not yet a parent. Don't look at parent characters. At least, not too much. They're book characters.

If you compare your parents to these characters, you may become discontent or bitter.

For always there will be greater parents than yours.

Hee. I'm such an ingrate. But I love you, Mom and Dad, flaws and all. Just as you love me, flaws and all.

Wriggly little ferret, aren't you, Rory?

She likes climbing up the sofas or beds and then climb all over us. To chew on our fingers, shirts, chins or ears! She likes our ears. We bought her rawhide chew toys, but she prefers human to deer.

It's so hard to take photos of her. Maybe a video. I love how she walks. Unlike Jego, who was a jogger (front paws together, and then back paws together) when he was a puppy, Rory trots. She uses all four paws one at a time and bounces on them.

And then of course, like all puppies, she does 360 degree turns for no reason at all. And like a baby, likes tumbling all over the place and whizzing just when she's cuddled against someone's shirt.

So tiny, so inquisitive. She's four to seven weeks old, I think. Our neighbor gave her to us already because her mom is back to being a b*tch so soon, hehe. Rory's a dachshund mix, they said. Thick fur. And now you understand Oncci's insane whim to call her 'Blacky'.

Ugh, forgot the flash! In my haste to snap a pic while she was sitting still.

And again, like babies, puppies are so charming when they're in dreamland.

You also fear moving them, however bizarre their sleeping positions are. *giggles* She napped like this for ten minutes.

How do they know these things?

I have half a mind to take Psychology by correspondence now. -ology courses are what's available in the UP Open University. But I wish I can go mingle with the crowd and their sweetness and sweat. Never mind that I'll need someone to do the sign language for me. :)

Tempted to this by Kasey:

Took it twice, same results, hehe. Only shifted from Judge to Professor anyway. Who would have thought, eh?

I scrunch my nose at the 'feeling the world's pain' bit. I'm too immersed in fiction for that. I barely watch tv, much less sit to see the news.

Oh yeah, because I get annoyed or depressed. Right.

I do spoil Sherly, though, I know. Haha. And though I boss Josh, he knows I'll buy him Wii in a wink if I have money...

Please let me have moneeeeey!

Your result for The Best Thing About You Test...

Compassion is your strongest virtue

Compassion is the most human of the virtues. And you? Your heart has limits far beyond normal levels empathy, and your capacity for feeling the world's pain is boundless. You poor, beautiful, wonderful thing. All 7 virtues are a part of you, but your compassion runs deepest.

It is likely you're an altruist. And it's likely (but not necessarily true, think of Bono) that your humility score is high too.

Compassionate famous people: Brad Pitt, Mother Theresa, The A-Team.

Your raw relative scores follow. 0% is low, and 100% is perfect, nearly impossible. Note that I pitted the virtues against each other, so in some way these are relative scores. It's impossible to score high on all of them, and a low score on one is just relatively low compared to the other virtues.

Oh, Gennesareth! I forgot Gennesareth. I have four now, Chiara. Cana, Galilee, Gethsemane, Gennesareth. Thessalonica sounds like it's a car polish brand. Hehe.

If I never knew you
If I never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be!

And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I find in you
The missing part of me!

In this world so full of fear
Full of raging lies
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes, so dry your eyes!

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

If I never knew you
I'd be safe, but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we'd make the whole world right
I never knew that fear and hate could be so strong
But still my heart is saying we were right
We were right
And if I never knew you
If I never knew you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Empty as the sky
Never nowing why
Lost forever
If I never knew you.

~the genius of Stephen Schwartz. You never hear his name, though, do you, it's Alan Menken we know. As if the song could 'live' without the words. Writers rock the world. Hee. Along with the composers, yes, yes. Peace.

Onion soup for the (insomniac) soul

Wow, it really worked. I just couldn't get on watching the sunrise and then sleeping. So I boiled two cups of water, plonked in one chopped onion, added a beef cube, added salt, added milk, stirred, transferred to a mug, sipped while reading and voila... I went to dreamland not long after I lay down.

Oh and the Book List thingy, stolen from my dear twinses, Chiara and Pippa.
